Sleep vs Screens

My Story

The Morning Struggle

If you’re anything like me, waking up on any work day can be a struggle. The alarm goes off and just as the adrenaline for the day kicks in an overwhelming feeling I know very well overcomes the motivation to get out of my warm bed.

I’m really tired again. It feels like I’ve had no sleep.

I'm Not 100%

I lay in bed for a while thinking of way’s I can avoid going into the office today – but ultimately, I know I need to get out of bed. I walk to the bathroom with my eyes half closed, they feel sandpaper, I brush my teeth half asleep and drag myself to the kitchen. I’m craving that sweet coffee goodness for the caffeine hit to wake me up and cure the pain of my tired eyes and sleepy brain. I head off to work and start the day, I know I’m not going to work at 100% today. During the day I’m not focused, I’m sleepy and at the end of the day it feels like I’ve achieved nothing. The lack of sleep has left me exhausted and its difficult to motivate myself to hit the gym after work or do anything but watch TV. I’m guessing you who are reading this can relate?

A Vicious Cycle

Let me tell you, it’s a vicious cycle, one that repeats itself over and over and over and it all starts with Blue Light and Sleep. I’m currently 33 and since I was 15 I’ve been infront of a screen 4 to 16 hours every day.

  • My work requires me to look at a computer screen for 8 -12 hours per day.
  • My work mobile receives calls, sms and emails
  • My work laptop in the afternoon requires me to reply to emails.
  • My hobbies are TV Series, Movies and occasionally Gaming.

Firing On All Cylinders

My day with a good night sleep begins with me springing out of bed, often before the alarm. I’m motivated and determined to beat anything the world throws at me. I’m switched on, I’m focused, and I can make complex decisions with speed and accuracy. I’m social and happy to engage in social conversations and activities as my brain is firing on all cylinders.

I wish every day could be like this.

What Has Helped Me

Like you, I was browing the web for help. Seaching for things like :insomnia” , “tired but cant sleep”, “exhausted but my mind wont switch off”, “staring a the ceiling until 3am” when I stumbled across a reddit post that has changed my life forever, you can read it here.

Bad Robot Monkey stated:

I have trouble getting sleepy, I picked up a paid of gunnars and it was fantastic.

I set out and bought myself a similar pair of blue light blocking glasses that we now sell in our store and to my surprise, within 10 minutes of using the glasses eyes my eyes felt less strain while looking at the screen. After working for a couple more hours, 10pm creeps up and I’m actually tired, for the first time in 10 years of working on laptops and computers till late

If you want to to be productive or watch TV to the last second before you sleep, visit our shop.

The added bonus of these glasses is they make me look smarter ha ha 🙂
